# Player Guide

What your players actually do. Worth reading once so you can answer questions without opening the config.

## Placing a canvas

Use a canvas item from your inventory. A translucent preview appears in front of you.

| Key         | Action                        |
| ----------- | ----------------------------- |
| `E`         | Place it here                 |
| `G`         | Switch to the precision gizmo |
| `Arrows`    | Rotate, and raise or lower    |
| `Backspace` | Back out                      |

Cancelling costs nothing - the item is only consumed once a placement is confirmed and accepted by the server.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Canvases snap flush to walls automatically.** Aim at a wall and the preview turns to face into the room; aim at a floor or table and it stands upright instead. Most placements need no adjustment at all.
{% endhint %}

The key legend at the top of the screen shows your placement count while you aim, e.g. `Place Canvas (7/10)`, so you always know how close you are to your limit.

### The precision gizmo

`G` swaps the aim preview for a 6-DOF gizmo - drag the arrows to move, the rings to rotate. Useful for getting a canvas perfectly level with another one, or nudging it a few centimetres along a wall.

`Backspace` returns to aim mode without losing the position. The gizmo's own keys appear in **Settings → Key Bindings → FiveM** and can be rebound.

## Interacting with a placed canvas

Third-eye it (or press `E` nearby in textui mode). Only the owner and admins see any options at all.

| Option          | What it does                                                          |
| --------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Edit Photo** | Open the editor |
| **Clear Photo** | Blank the canvas, leaving it in place. Only shown when it has a photo |
| **Move Frame** | Re-open the gizmo without picking the canvas up |
| **Pick Up** | Take it back into your inventory, photo included |

On a server with no inventory the last option reads **Remove Canvas** instead, because nothing is returned.

## The photo editor

Selecting **Edit Photo** eases the camera in: the canvas fills the left of your screen, the panel sits on the right. `Esc` exits at any time.

### Setting a photo

Paste a **direct image link** and press Set. Direct means the URL ends at the image itself - right-click an image and "Copy image address" rather than copying the address bar of the page it sits on.

The link must be HTTPS, on the server's allowed-hosts list, and a static JPEG, PNG or WebP. GIFs are rejected. If a host is not allowed the error tells you which ones are.

### The collection

Every photo you successfully use is saved to your collection for reuse. Click one to apply it; hover and use the × to remove it.

Removing a photo from your collection also blanks any of **your own** canvases currently showing it. Nobody else's canvas is affected.

The collection is capped. At the cap you are asked to delete something rather than having an old photo silently thrown away.

### Adjusting the photo

The Composition controls change how the photo sits *inside* the frame - the canvas itself does not move.

| Control      | Range                                                        |
| ------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Drag the pad | Move the photo within the frame |
| Scale        | 0.1× – 5×                                                    |
| Rotate       | −180° – 180°                                                 |
| Fit / Fill | Fit shows the whole image; Fill crops it to cover the canvas |
| Reset        | Back to defaults                                             |

{% hint style="info" %}
**The real canvas updates as you drag** - what you see on the wall is exactly what everyone else will see. Save keeps it, Cancel puts it back the way it was.
{% endhint %}

Fill is the default and behaves as a zoom, so scaling *down* from Fill reveals the edges the crop was hiding.

## Picking up and re-placing

Picking a canvas up returns the item **with the photo stored inside it**. Place it again anywhere - including a different property or routing bucket - and the photo and its adjustment come back exactly as they were.

This works on ox\_inventory and qb-inventory. On ESX's native inventory there is nowhere in the item to keep a photo, so it is discarded on pickup; your server owner will have told you if that applies.

## Limits

Each of your characters can have a set number of canvases placed at once - 10 by default. Picking one up frees a slot immediately.

If you hit the limit, using an item tells you so and does not start placement, so you never end up aiming at a canvas you cannot commit.
